YOU ARE PURCHASING A ORIGINAL GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC BASIC MEMBERSHIP MEDAL WITH A R/W/B 11 STRIPE MEDAL RIBBON DRAPE

This IS NOT the US ARMY Civil War Medal of Honor and the Medal of Honor pictured is a stock photo! While the GAR Membership Medal resembles the MoH, the GAR medal has only two metal elements while the MoH has three, and it is approximately 50% smaller than the MoH. (See Illustration)

Also, while the Stolen Valor Act itself was declared to be Unconstitutional, the Supreme Court let stand all of the laws forbidding the unauthorized possession or sale of an original MoH, and the manufacture and/or sale of replicas of the medal.  That is why this offering contains none of the elements of the original Civil War MoH including the medal’s 13 stripe US Flag drape.

The purpose of this offering is to assist Civil War Living Historians in telling the story of the American Civil War Experience!

You will receive this original Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Medal – SN B954 – in its existing, uncleaned and unaltered condition, and a GAR Medal Replacement Ribbon (a $9.95 value) should you ever wish to restore the GAR medal to its original condition.
